There is no single path
As college friends talk more frequently about post-grad life, it is easy to feel as though the earth beneath you is crumbling. This is what a friend confessed he feels. And I must say I admired his courage to say it. When circumstances get too intimidating, it’s easy to pretend you know it all, that you can handle it. But sometimes you’re just flabbergasted and uncertain. His industry is not one commonly taken by students. He cannot relate about the talks on big companies and marketing or sales. He feels slightly inadequate and unprepared for the “real world” fresh graduates are vying to enter. I must confess that I tend to chicken out too. There is precisely one reason -because I perceive that we are meant to take one path, and we should fit ourselves in to it. Then I realized the lie that it was. There is no single path. When you feel that juice flowing out of you and you can’t stop because you’re obsessed about improving your craft, it is highly recommended that you follow it. I think it is so much better than pursuing the dreams of the majority. Doing it differently doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. And yes, I need to follow my own advice. |
